When the idea came to me while I was on the treadmill at the Y and it gave me goosebumps, I knew I had to write it. You can’t — and shouldn’t — ignore goosebumps.
The basic premise: Detective Cade Dawkins is summoned to a mysterious meeting at the University of Minnesota with a computer science professor. In doing research on the dark web, a site for serial killers was discovered. On the site, killers are sharing exploits, bragging and offering challenges to one another. When Cade questions why he’s there, saying since he’s based in Minnesota, he can’t go around the globe chasing down these killers, the professor shakes his head. “You don’t understand. When you caught the blonde killer (spoiler alert), it created such a buzz on the site, that a new challenge was issued. Come to Minnesota and kill. Come outsmart the legendary Cade Dawkins.”
